Peony Season is here.
Local peony season is here and with so much beauty. This spectacular flower starts off as a tight glossy ball and opens into the most light and ruffled bloom. The season runs from late spring into early summer.
Peonies are native to Asia, Europe and Western North America, and have been a significant flower in China and Japan for centuries. Peony were used in ancient china to flavour food and for medicinal purposes. The peony was then recognised for its beauty and was cultivated for ornamental purposes. The peony flower is the official emblem of China and features in many religious and cultural traditions. Lucky for us peonies grow in Australia in our more temperate regions.
Peonies are a very popular wedding flower and have come into season just in time to be arranged into bridal bouquets, adorn wedding arbours and wedding tables. We are lucky to be able to enjoy the beauty of mother natures blooms.
